Peter Gutermann

VP and General Counsel, Pratt & Whitney, A United Technologies Company

Peter Gutermann was named Vice President and General Counsel in January 2003. He leads Pratt & Whitney’s Legal Services department and has responsibility for the company’s legal matters. Gutermann is also responsible for contracts, corporate ethics and government compliance.

Gutermann served as Associate General Counsel for United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney’s parent company, since 2000. Before that, he held various senior leadership positions at UTC, including Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Deputy General Counsel at Otis.

Gutermann served as Assistant Counsel at Pratt & Whitney from 1993 to 1995. He joined the UTC Corporate Office Legal Department in 1990 from the Hartford, CT law firm of Robinson & Cole.

Gutermann is a graduate of Trinity College and Case Western Reserve University Law School. He is UTC’s representative to the Law Council of the Manufacturer’s Alliance and serves on the Board of the Pro-Bono Partnership, a national organization that provides free legal services to the non-profit community. Gutermann also serves on the Board of the Hartford Marathon Foundation and is a Life Fellow of the James W. Cooper Connecticut Bar Foundation.
