Alamdar Hamdani

Trial Attorney, Counterterrorism Section, National Security Division, U.S. Department of Justice

Alamdar S. Hamdani is a trial attorney in the Counterterrorism Section of the Department of Justice's National Security Division. He is responsible for investigating and prosecuting international terrorism cases. Prior to joining the National Security Division, Mr. Hamdani was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Kentucky where he prosecuted immigration, drug, violent, and white collar crimes. Before moving to Kentucky, Mr. Hamdani was a partner in his own Houston, Texas firm, and an associate in a large Texas based firm before that, focusing primarily on commercial litigation. His work in private practice also involved a fair amount of pro bono civil rights work, where he represented individuals in FBI interviews in the wake of 9/11 and filed habeas petitions on behalf of South Asians and Arabs placed in prolonged immigration detention. Mr. Hamdani is a former President of the North American South Asian Bar Association and a former President of the South Asian American Bar Association of Houston. He is a University of Houston Law Center graduate, where he was a moot court champion and an editor of the Law Review.
