Assistant General Counsel, Pepco Holdings
Anuradha (Anne) Gwal is an Assistant General
Counsel handling general commercial transactions for Pepco
Holdings, Inc., a utility and energy company headquartered
in Washington, DC and Wilmington, DE. Currently, she concentrates
her practice in Telecommunications, Contracts, and Intellectual
Property but has handled various matters in areas of Competitive
Energy, E-Commerce, Regulatory and Strategic Sourcing. Previously,
her in-house counsel positions were with healthcare and
multinational corporations, where her practice included
Mergers/Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, and Healthcare
Compliance.
Ms. Gwal graduated from Rutgers University
- Cook College with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, and subsequently
pursued post graduate studies in Justice Systems and Criminology
at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her J.D.
in Law from Widener University – School of Law in
1994 and is admitted in New Jersey.
Ms. Gwal is the Vice President of Program
Development for the South Asian Bar Association of Delaware
(SABA DE). As of July 2010, she will begin her term as President
of SABA DE.
Ms. Gwal has served on the Philadelphia Art Museum’s
Young Friends Fundraising Committees for the past five years.
She co-chaired the Raffle Subcommittee for the Winter Gala
2010 which featured Picasso and the Avant-Garde in Paris
and was attended by 700 people. She is currently a subcommittee
co-chair for the Rodin Garden Party to be held in September
2010 and has been invited to join the Young Friends Board
of the Philadelphia Art Museum for a three-year term beginning
July 2010.
Previously, Ms. Gwal was the Vice President
for the Aids Services in the Asian Community (ASIAC) Board,
a nonprofit 501(c) (3) healthcare organization in Philadelphia
since 1997. She also served as the Speakers Committee Co-Chair
for the 2003 National Network of Indian Professionals Conference,
as a Board Member and Special Events Co-Chair for 2004.
Her interests include scuba diving, music, writing and film.
