Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, Avery Dennison

Bijal R. Shah is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Avery Dennison Corporation, a Fortune 500 company with over 30,000 employees in more than 60 countries around the world specializing in pressure-sensitive technology and materials, retail branding and information solutions, and organization and identification products for offices and consumers.

In his role with Avery Dennison, Mr. Shah has primary legal responsibility in the planning, negotiating and completion of significant Company transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, joint ventures and strategic alliances across the organization. He also is responsible for providing guidance and legal counsel to Avery Dennison’s newly-created Medical Products Division and provides guidance and counsel to new growth platform and emerging business opportunity efforts across the organization. Mr. Shah also provides legal support for Avery’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Risk Management, Compliance, Values & Ethics, Human Resources, Environmental, Health and Safety and Information Technology functions.

Prior to joining Avery Dennison in May 2008, Mr. Shah was with the Los Angeles office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP where he served as a member of its mergers and acquisitions, private equity and securities practice groups.

Mr. Shah has been an active member within the South Asian legal community for a number of years. He has been active with NASABA since its inception, having served on its board of directors for a number of years and previously served as President of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California and served on the Executive Advisory Council of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Southern California.
