“Dave” Kumar

Dave Kumar is a Partner at Goldberg, Godles,
Wiener & Wright, a boutique law firm focused on telecommunications
law and policy located in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kumar represents
clients that span a broad range of the communications industry;
however, his main focus is on representing Internet companies
in a range of regulatory, policy, and compliance issues.
Prior to joining G2W2, Mr. Kumar was a
Visiting Professor of Law at the National Law School of
India in Bangalore, India, where he taught courses on telecommunications
law and policy and competition law. Previously, he was an
associate in the communications, information technology,
and intellectual property practice groups at Covington &
Burling in Washington, D.C. Outside of work, Mr. Kumar serves
on the board of the Duke Club of Washington, and in 2006
and 2007, served on the board of the South Asian Bar Association
of Washington, D.C. Mr. Kumar is also the co-founder and
a national director of South Asians for Opportunity (formerly
South Asians for Obama), and received the 2009 India Abroad
Gopal Raju Award for Community Service for his work relating
to SAFO.
Mr. Kumar is a graduate of Harvard Law
School, cum laude, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief
of the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology. Prior to
law school, Mr. Kumar attended Duke University, where he
received a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, and Georgia
Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where he received
an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Kumar also worked
as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark
Office, where he examined patent applications in the field
of telephonic communications.
