Judge R.K. Sandill

127th District Court, Harris County, Texas

Ravi K. Sandill is the Judge of the 127th District Court, which is located in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Ravi was elected in November 2008 and became the first South Asian to be elected to the district court bench in Texas. Ravi is also the only South Asian to be elected to a countywide office in Harris County.

He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Houston Law Center. Prior to his election, Ravi practiced non-compete litigation, employment law, and commercial litigation with Steele Sturm, PLLC. Prior to going to law school, Ravi spent a summer on Capitol Hill and a summer at the White House’s Council of Economic Advisors. During his undergraduate and law school years, Ravi did White House Advance for the President and the First Lady. After completing law school, Ravi served as a briefing attorney to Justice Murry B. Cohen of the Texas First Court of Appeals. He is admitted to all federal courts in Texas.

Ravi is the incoming Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Division’s Minority in the Profession Committee, he sits on the Executive Board of the Garland R. Walker Inn of Court, is a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers’ Foundation, and a member of the Houston Bar Association.

A cancer survivor, Ravi chairs the Patient Services Committee for The Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Gulf Coast Chapter and serves on its Board of Trustees. He resides with his wife Kelly and their young son Asher in Houston.
