Shirish Gupta

Flashpoint Law was founded in June 2008 by Shirish Gupta. A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and UC Berkeley, Shirish has spent nearly a decade litigating, most recently at Mayer Brown LLP and Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Falk & Rabkin.

He has represented clients including Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, Kleiner Perkins Partners L. John Doerr and Thomas Jermoluk and former Openwave Inc. officers Donald Listwin and Kevin Kennedy. In addition, he represented the Special Committee of Apollo Group, the parent company of The University of Phoenix, in investigating allegations concerning Apollo Group’s stock option granting process.

Shirish has substantial experience in electronic discovery, employment law, unfair business practices, unfair competition, class actions, derivative and securities and intellectual property matters.

He also has a strong commitment to pro bono legal services, having obtained the release of a 3 Strikes prisoner, whose third strike was stealing a bottle of vitamins (Riggs v. Fairman, 399 F.3d 1179 (9th Cir. 2005)) and resolved insurance coverage issues for an Indian-American family whose home was burned down in a hate crime.

Shirish is admitted in all courts in the State of California, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Courts for all Districts of California.
