Susan
Guzzo
Attorney, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals
Susan Guzzo has more than 20 years experience
in the pharmaceutical industry. Susan is employed with the
Law and Patents group at Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals.
She serves as legal leader for Bayer’s oncology and
general medicine businesses, responsible for overseeing
all commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters. In this
capacity she has played a principal role in representing
Bayer’s interests in multiple alliances, joint ventures
and collaborations. In 2005, Susan represented Bayer in
a joint venture with Nuvelo for which Bayer was awarded
the “Breakthrough Deal of the Year Award”.
Prior to joining Bayer, Susan was executive
counsel at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals for 8 years
where her practice spanned all areas of the pharmaceutical
business. At BI she supported the business development group
concerning a broad array of transactions that included strategic
alliances, joint ventures, co-marketing and research collaborations,
counseling on issues including antitrust, intellectual property,
regulatory and compliance matters.
In her early career Susan was with the
firm of Adorno and Zeder Practice Group in Miami FL. in
the health care law practice. During this time she lobbied
state legislators and counseled clients on the entity formation
of HMOs, preferred provider networks and PBMs. She also
served as an advisor to the Dade County Community Health
Purchasing Alliance, an expert witness in pharmacy matters
and as an IRB Member. Her broad array of experiences gives
her a unique insight and approach to developing and managing
joint ventures.
She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh
with a degree in Pharmacy and the University of Miami where
she graduated with honors from School of Law (1991). She
is admitted to practice in Florida.
